Yamaha RX-V series FM tuner questions

Yes, some still make use of the FM tuner.
No Internet nonsense, especially with the lame setup needed to access Internet stations that the manual doesn't make clear.

1. I have found the squelch and/or stereo 'quieting' setting(s) are very high compared what I'm use to with other receivers under the same conditions & stations. It takes a stronger signal to break squelch in the 'stereo' mode. Has anyone else noticed this?

2. The tuner 'mode' button on the front panel, is this accessible from the remote or in the menu somewhere?? I don't see anything in the manual (no surprise) or on the remote itself.

FYI, I have a compact bookshelf Onkyo receiver that is using a single 'wire' for an antenna that has no problem with the two stations in question that don't 'break squelch' on the Yamaha The Yahama is using an attic FM ridgid dipole antenna positioned for max signal.

The specific model is a RX-V675.

Those two stations when forced in 'mono' mode do have some 'frying' in the background, but surely listenable.
