That grille may be too shallow and restrict displacement of your subs. Of course, that all depends on the loudness you play your speakers at. On the Amazon site, one reviewer mentioned that shallowness problem.
It might be better to check at a pro audio shop which sells similar grilles to find a solution.

What about if I put a grille over the whole front of the speaker? Would the tweeters sound be marred?

A grille cloth which you can easily see through should work well and would not affect the high frequency performance. Some electronics and pro audio shops sell that kind of product.

The metal grille from Home Depot would definitely modify the sound coming from your tweeters. You're better off with the cloth.

Each thing has a purpose and each purpose requires the appropriate thing.
