Will these subs pair okay?

So I will spell out my HT setup.

Marantz SR7001 (as a preamp)
NAD T955 Power amp
Klipsch KF-28 Icon 8'' mains
Klipsch SF-1 Surrounds
Klipsch SC-1 Center Channel

I have an older Klipsch KSW-12 Synergy series subwoofer from the late 90s, that has served me very well. On this latest BF I managed to snag the Klipsch 12'' Reference Sub R-12SW for about $150 using some store credit.

Should I just ditch the old Synergy, or run a dual sub setup?

Some stats.

My receiver only has one subwoofer output. So I would need to run a Male to dual female Y-Splitter, a cable. Then a single female to two male y splitters (I don't think this part is necessary, as both subs have a LFE input, but I have always run a splitter on my subs.)

Many receivers cheat and do the same thing. They have two connections, but it's just an internal splitter.

I would say position your new sub where you think it works best, then experiment with the KSW-12 in different locations and see if you like what it adds in.

You will want to volume match them at the listening position. If you don't have an SPL meter, get an SPL metter app for you phone. While their readings may not be accurate as to what db level you are hearing, you can certainly use them to match the volume on one sub to another.
