I just ran across an ad for a TEAC AD-RW900 combo Cassette Deck / CD Recorder and USB recorder and was wondering if this unit is best for recording old vinyl records and old cassettes onto a computer / CD or am I better off with a higher quality cassette deck and Audacity? I already have a quality Thorens TD-318 tuned up turntable. The ad stated that this TEAC unit upgrades the quality of the source recording before recording it???
Thanks to all responding members.

The way I prefer to do it is direct to a CD Recorder, punching in track divisions after finishing the recording. From there, I import CD to iTunes and name tracks, download art, etc. Now, this method does not permit dealing with clicks, and pops; but, it does get you the highest quality; and it's a little quicker than using software for creating tracks and/or naming them. If I did a lot of this sort of thing, I'd get a new Tascam SD recorder for the task.
