I am a little confused in setting up my receiver. Would it be best to set the crossover at 80HZ since my sub is only adjustable from 80-160? I am running 4 Polk Audio satellites with a 40HZ at -3dB. Do I need to have my sub set at the same HZ that I set my variable crossover to on my receiver. My surrounds are currently set to small.

Thanks

Provided you have your sub connected to the receiver from the pre-out connection via coax: Set the sub's cross over it's highest setting. Or disable it if possible, and let the receiver handle the cross over point.
80 hz is a good stating point. With those speakers it may be possible to drop it down to 60. But this will work the reciever a bit harder.

Nomo,

Thanks for the response. I cant disable the sub so I will turn it up to 160HZ and leaver the receiver crossover at 80.

Thanks
