Using a Y Adapter: Any sacrifice?

Basically, I am looking at needing to plug 2 rca sources into my Amp (Denon AVR to preamp my fronts and a Placette RVC for stereo listening)

Would I be better served just manually switching the cables out or would a Y adapter with male plugged into the amp input and 2 females to plug in both components above work without sound issues?
thanks

You don't want to use a "Y" connector to combine two outputs into one input. Strange things can happen.

They are good, however, for splitting one output into two inputs, like one subwoofer channel into two (right and left) subwoofer inputs.

There are fairly inexpensive switchboxes that can select between several sources into one output. Even Walmart sells these.

Like Mark, I'd highly recommend a selector, but if only one component is on at a time (sending only one signal) it would theoretically work without issue... just don't turn the two outputting devices on at the same time.....
