I don't think it is ugly. A little Tim Burton, but as long as it sounds (really) good, I could live with it.

I'm going with my old departed BIC American speakers.... beat to hell and was expensive to me ($100) at the time.

But, yeah, they actually sounded like speakers, instead of annoying plastic rattling boxes which I had up until that point.

They were ugly from destruction and neglect when I bought them, but they still sounded great :D
