Triangle Signature Delta Tower Speaker Overview

Today I wanted to do something different and decided to do a simple overview on a company/product not much talked about in the US market. This time I chose a french audio company called Triangle and their Signature Delta Floorstanding Tower Speaker.

Triangle's new Signature line, the Delta is an attractive tower standing 4' tall. You will notice that on top of the enclosure there is a bullet-shaped, gloss-black module containing what they call the TZ2550 tweeter which has been set to operate above 2.7kHz.

This tweeter is the same same titanium-dome unit, acoustically loaded with a die-cast aluminum horn, that's used in Triangle's top Magellan line and that shows how serious they were when designing this speaker. The tweeter sits immediately above a large paper cone midrange unit constructed on a 7.3" aluminum frame. This mid driver is set to cover from 280Hz to 2.7kHz.

Both 7.3" woofers are separated by a large, flared port and each woofer has a fiberglass cone fitted with an aluminum dust cap and terminated with an inverted half-roll rubber suspension. The motor of each woofer uses two ferrite magnets and a double-layered voice-coil. Internal cabling is made by Kimber Kable.

Check out the following pictures for more details about these elegant speakers.

I have read a number of reviews of this speaker and they were all very favorable. For sure, this speaker is on my shortlist for my next upgrade. Performance aside, this speaker has a lot of personality. It has a nice look to it. I will be upgrading from a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 10s. My only concern is that Triangle does not have a noticeable following here in the US. For example, there is no "Official Triangle Speaker" thread on AVS Forum or other popular forums. Besides professional reviews, I do like to here what owners have to say. I spoke to the head of marketing and I suggested that he tap into social media a bit more. Hold listening sessions around the country and etc. In any event, I won't spend what is left of the kids inheritance until later this year.

I somewhat recently purchased a pair of the Magellan Duetto speakers from Triangle, I was going to go for floor standing but ended up with the "bookshelf" Duetto + a JL Audio f110 sub. I put bookshelf in quotes because these are huge for bookshelf speakers. The Triangles are wonderful! The finish is gorgeous and, to me at least, they sound amazing. I greatly preferred them to the B&W 804d that I also auditioned that day. The Duetto are in the 6K$ range (Magellan is the range above the signature) which accompanied by a good sub gets you the same price as the Signature floor standing.

Cheers,
Alex.

They're nice, but in that price range my drool is saved for a pair of Bowers & Wilkins 803D2's.

That's understandable, those are gorgeous! When I went to upgrade, I was pretty heavily leaning towards the 804D2 (no floor space for the 803 and honestly my living room doesn't warrant speakers that size). I love the aesthetics of the 800 series and have been a B&W fan for a while (I was replacing a 600 series pair). But once I auditioned the Triangle as well as a pair of Focal speakers, I preferred the French manufacturers (both Triangle and Focal are French). I went with the Triangle because the Focal look just wasn't for me but they sounded very similar to me.

Cheers!
Alex.

I almost went for the Triangle Signature Deltas but they were just a bit out of reach financially. So, I went with a pair of Monitor Audio Gold 200s instead, an equally fine speaker. May be in a few years I will go for the Deltas. :)

Having just bought a pair of Triangle Signature Deltas (bought second - hand as new from France and brought over to the UK by my brother) , I can confirm that they are outstanding speakers but like all fine speakers, they are extremely revealing and need careful matching and setting up. When they were first installed in my listening room, I experienced some of the problems other people mentioned such as a lively treble . I also found I was listening to an impressive hifi system capable of delivering deep bass and creating a big sound stage but what I was hearing was not real music until I started going through my list of remedies and tricks I learnt when I was in the hifi trade. I'm now getting a sound which is proper music reproduction that my old system is capable of.
So,yes, you are right in wanting to save up for the Triangle Deltas if you value musical enjoyment over sound reproduction of monitoring quality. If the euro zone collapses in a few months, you may well get these speakers sooner than later
