Sounds like a money making gimic to me.
Seems like more tone controls and digital processing.

The "loudness" control has returned!

I think it's a nice enough idea.

I really don't like to have to crank the volume to enjoy movies. So if (and it is a very big if) it is implemented properly I think it could be great.
Also people are so worried about their media being processed. Technology is coming to the point that most processing is almost totally transparent on good equipment.

Sounds similar to what Dynamic Compression, in current AVR's and players, does.

cheers:)

Like I said before, to truly appreciate a speaker system you have to turn up the volume. It's like buying a sports car and only doing 30 km/h (approx 18.6 mph).

Maybe this will be the solution. Finally get a better experience at lower volumes.

Maybe what they should have done is provide multiple head phone jacks. That might have been a better idea. :D

That's exactly what it sounds like!
More COMPRESSION. More TONE CONTROL. More PROCESSING. More MONEY. LESS QUALITY.
