I have my surround setup in a "great room", which is 18'x35'
The "living room" portion of the great room is about 18'x12'
Right now I have the surrounds (wall mounted) at about the 10' distance, which puts them about 1-2' behind the listener. I was considering moving them back to encompass the dining/living area which would make the area 10'x25'. This would put the surround speakers about 10-12' behind the listener. (putting the listener roughly equidistant from the front and rear speakers).
Is this a workable arrangement for surround sound? I would just try it but the current speakers are wall mounted at about 7' up and it'd be a huge pain to move them back, remount/rewire them and do a legit test -- so I thought I'd ask first...
