Speaker hum with interconnect change

Added a new Audioquest interconnect to stereo set up (between pre-amp and CD player) and am getting an awful hum sound from speakers that increases with volume. Any suggestions? I do not have cable TV. Thanks much!

My suggestion would be to go back to the cable that didn't cause hum.

My suggestion would be to go back to the cable that didn't cause hum.

And get a refund on those expensive cables that don't work.
