My Sony STR-DN1050 flashes "Protector" and shuts off when the PS4 is running. Most trouble-shooting tips point to a bad connection with a speaker due to low impedance, but the receiver doesn't have a problem when I'm watching from cable box no matter what the volume level is. I'm using Polk Audio RM6751 speakers which have an input impedance of 8 Ohm. The receiver says the speaker impedance needs to be between 6-16 Ohm so that shouldn't be the issue.
Is it possible the PS4 causing the "protector" shut down somehow?
Possible overheating issue? Unlikely.
The only other thing I can think of is if it were to overheat. However, There should be plenty of room for ventilation (see attached photo).
I feel as though I can cross this possibility off because I have a fan on the receiver now, circulating air. When it just shut down again, I felt the receiver and it was barely warm...
Please help!
