I think this will finally make me part with my
beloved DA5ES

Our flagship VSX-49TXi has been upgraded with an i.Link digital interface-a world's first-to handle multi-channel DVD-A, SACD, and other digital audio signal transmissions between a DVD player and receiver. The benefit: unmatched audio processing, using ONE wire. The VSX-49TXi meets LucasFilm's THX® -Ultra2 requirements for audio playback of all multi-channel and movie formats (including precise 8-channel audio) and processing of all wide-bandwidth signals (like HDTV) with no picture degradation. For easy, accurate system setup, an advanced version of our Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration Circuit (MCACC) evaluates a room's environment and calibrates output accordingly. The VSX-49TXi includes a large LCD touch-panel remote control and the Elite two-year warranty. M.S.R.P. $4,500.

Weren't you the one that has been claiming that your extensive experiences with various brands held that the Pioneer Elite products were among the worst of the major brands in terms of reliability? I'm just shocked you'd even consider a Pioneer Elite product taking place of something so beloved with all that could go wrong on this flagship unit. After all there are so many things that might break. Better make it a Z-9 instead, don't you think?

Yep you are correct
I was giving Pioneer the benefit having written this before the product shipped and was excited about the new technology almost 2 1/2 years ago? I stand by my original comment’s
Even more so now than 2 1/2 years ago Pioneer for me has been one of the least reliable products Yamaha has been one of the most reliable I agree with your decision to trade your Pioneer in for the Z-9 you cant go wrong with that choice The Sony DA5ES and the Sony 9000ES were very fine products in there day now look at what Sony is marketing ;)

Patience is a vurtue, particularly where consumer electronics is concerned.

For that price, I expect a lot. The bleeding/leading edge is a little too expensive for me. I'll let someome else have that honor and simply reap the benefits when the trickle down effect kicks in.

That's when I'll consider it. IOW, I'm a cheap SOB and proud of it! ;)

Particularly in this case where I can't really see an audiable benefit. Conveniience perhaps, but not necesarially an improvement in sound

Consider this post is more than 2-1/2 years old the technology has trickled down . The model mentioned above is now considered a dinosaur :)

When it finallt makes it down to receivers well under 1k, I'l consider it. Actually, I'm surprised it's taking this long.
