Now here is the old PSB Alpha, with first order crossover.
Sold for $200
6-1/2 two way speaker - no bracing - only 1/2 piece of square fiberglass
on the bottom of the cabinet. Also, no removable grill.
Overall, however, this is excellent measured performance considering the PSB Alpha's price—not much more than a family's weekly grocery bill.- JA

Man, $200 for groceries!!!? I wanna live in 1992! :D

I wouldn't worry about it at all. We've seen the FR of the 30, and aside from a lack of BSC (and a bit of breakup), it looked very good for this price range.

That said, the 70 uses a more sophisticated crossover and the breakup should be attinuated even more.
The Alpha drivers and cabinet build, is lower quality compared to
the Cambridge. The Alpha bass is mushy/boomy and the woofer
would distort/burp, on somewhat heavy bass material at moderate
levels. The Alpha was also lacking in overall imaging, the center
imaging was weak.

Now concerning the Cambridge, if it really did a poor job with voices,
on the ssssszzzzzz's - it would have been kicked out of my house.:)

I wonder if the 2nd order is electrical or acoustical? If electrical, the s70 is probably a higher order and the cone breakup of the woofers is attenuated even more.

I assume crossover modifications voided your warranty Zieglj? :D

Even if the cone breakup was bad enough (which I don't think it will be) to cause sibilance, a crossover mod could be designed. I'm sure it would not be difficult finding someone on parts express forum willing to do it for free!

Their is no warranty now.

The S70 looks to be 12 db electrical, and the same for the S50 center.

The 1st order electrical in the S30, does not enhance sibilance.

A lot of people who have not owned, or listened to much quality wise
in the past, are in for an ear opening. >> There are still alot of those
poor recordings out there - and some natural voices are not that clean
to begin with.

What makes you say that? :)
It is hard to say what they really have done - marketing is
claiming 2.5 way, for the S70 floorstander.

Sensitivity: 90db

Frequency Response: 39Hz - 20kHz

Nominal Impedance: 4-8 Ohms

Drive units: Tweeter: 1 x 25mm (1”)
Woofer: 2 x 130mm (5") mid/bass driver

Crossover: 2nd Order 2.5 way

Recommended maximum amplifier power: 120 Watts

The receiver is has 100 watts.
The speakers, 120.

Someone told me that having higher powered speakers than the receiver could be a problem, that it could damage the receiver and such.
Is it true?

Find you a pair of these. PSB Alpha B1's $279 a pair.

http://www.stereophile.com/content/psb-alpha-b1-loudspeaker-measurements

Since your in Portugal

Just give these people a call ( they supposed to be a seller for Audioenginee stuff and try some of these. I had a pair of Audioengine A5 powered speakers when I started using my computer until I got my Genelec speakers. Heck the A2 ( $199 pair) might work for you. They do work and you will save a bunch of money since your budget is around $300. JUst run your usb cable to the speaker and play away. BUT, you never told us how bug a space your room is ( square footage) that's going to have an impact on getting decent sound unless your right smack in front of the speakers. .

No, do not fear the receiver or the speakers. If you are still looking
at the Sony that I recommended, it will be fine.
