I recently bought an sr 7500 receiver on e-bay.My question is can I control the receiver with rc 8001 or rc 1400?I have two rc 8500 remotes of which neither work.Can I use either of aforementioned remotes?

Very unlikely. You need to buy an original or a universal remote.
