Question for Marantz owners

Hello all,

I currently have an SR6004 mated to a 3.1 consisting of a pair of maple Klipsch RF5's, an RC7 center and a 10" Onix Rocket sub. The 6004 emits quite a bit of static out of the center channel, even when it is the only thing powered on, and no other sources turned on. It has also lost audio on 2 of the 4 hdmi inputs. It's time to move on.
I'm looking at picking up a refurb from Ac4L since this will probably be a temporary replacement until we move into a bigger house next year. This will most likely replace the Yamaha RX-V1700 I currently have in the bedroom, that has never given me a single problem. I am considering the Marantz 6006 and 5008. I know they changed the processor on the 6005, and by all accounts it didn't sound as good as the 6004. Reviews also showed the 6006 sounded basically the same as the 6005. So did they change anything to make the x008 series sound better? Has anyone ever figured out the 2 pound weight difference between the 6004 and 6005/6? The 10 watt difference in power is a non-issue. I'm more concerned with the best audio for my dollar. I know some of the newer Denon offerings come with a lot more features for less money, but most reviews show them to be lacking in the audio (mainly bass) quality department compared to Marantz and other higher end units. Thoughts? Suggestions for other units with my speakers?

Id worry most about getting a model with Audyssey XT32, not sure if one of those has just XT.

I have bought a few things from AC4L, it's nice knowing you have a warranty.

The next one will for sure, but not this one. Even the X4000 with XT32 refurb is more than Im willing to spemd right now.

I know the 5008 has XT.

For XT32 you need to get SR6008/7008 or SR6009/7009. SR5008 has only XT, not XT32. I have really liked my SR7008. Used to have SR6007, no issues with that model either. So I would guess for audio quality those older models should do just as fine.

Yea, I won't be able to afford anything with XT this time around. I just bought the 6004 second hand a few months ago, and now have all these problems.

Just a quick note, XT32 hasn't filtered down to the Marantz 6000 line yet. It's still only available in the 7008, 7009, and the prepros for now.

You are right, has to be SR7008/7009. My memory has failed me, for some reason I had memory that SR6008/6009 also had XT32, but no had to even check it from Marantz site.
