Question about Tidal bitrates via AirPlay

So I got a Tidal subscription, and I'm using an iPad and Apple TV, however, my receiver only shows that it is receiving PCM at 48k, and the receiver is 96k capable. Tidal says it streams ALAC (Apple's version of FLAC) over airplay, and the Apple TV specs say it supports ALAC. But does Airplay or Apple TV downspeed everything to 48k?

So do I still have to wait for hardware with Tidal to get true lossless audio? Regardless, Tidal via Airplay still sounds better than any other streaming service.

Airplay does lossless compression. It doesn't downsample, but it doesn't really matter anyways

If it doesn't downsample, shouldn't my receiver be receiving a higher PCM rate from my Apple TV than 48k?

Nevermind, I read a little more about it and I understand now.

Sadly, AppleTV converts everything to 48kHz for folks wondering...
