Hi all! I am from Ukraine so sorry for not very good english.

Atm at my home I have JBL LS Series 5.2 (LS80, Center, Surround, and 2 of their subs).
And all this is controled with Yamaha RX-A3010.

I think that is coming time to upgrade my system, first of all i decide to change my subs with 2 x Paradigm SUB15.
Second I want to change Reciever with Processor and Amps.

With information that i read in web and talk with some friends I am wondering on such complet:

Processor Onkyo PR-SC5509
Amp for front speakers - McIntosh MC-302
And for all other Emotiva XPA-5

What can you say about my choise, and if is something better, what it must be? Maybe McIntosh is to expensive and there something better, maybe Emotiva is low quality ? Or Onkyo is not such a good proc as I think. In two words I need help! Thanks a lot!

There is always the debate of whether amps sound different vs the same. Some of us (myself included) believe amps sound the same because we have listened to various and numerous amps and still cannot tell the difference. But I will not discredit or belittle anyone for believing that amps have different sounds.

But even if amps have different sounds, all of us believe unequivocally that speakers, processors, room, placement, and setup make a more significant impact.

I own 4 ATI amps and I love them. According to ATI, they make amps for "most amp companies in North America" including JBL Pro, Mark Levinson, Lexicon, Cary Audio, B&K, Theta Digital, Outlaw, etc. Since you own $7400 JBL LS system, you could stick to what JBL and Harman uses - ATI amps. :D

But I believe that Emotiva or Harman's own Crown amps will sound just as good as well, if their aesthetics don't offend you. Did you know Harman (JBL, Revel, Mark Levinson) makes the Crown amps? Did you ever see that YouTube video which showed the Crown amp engineer wearing a Mark Levinson shirt? Subliminal message? :D

McIntosh is great. So is Classe, Parasound, Rotel, Sunfire, Acurus/ Aragon, Bryston, etc. I don't think you will go wrong with any of these amps if budget is not a factor.

But for $7400 speaker system, I think most of us would not spend more than $3K or even $2K on amps, certainly not $5-6K.

My advice is simply to choose whatever appeals to you that is in your price range. Don't worry about what other people like. Buy what you like. That way you will be happier with the choice. For me, the place to spend money is on speakers and room acoustics. The rest of the system doesn't have much to do with sound quality as long as it operates normally.

I can buy NEW amp McIntosh 302 for 4500$... So as I understand its a good value for that price!... And for surround and center I can buy Emotiva, so now question stand on Processor. At the moment I am looking on Onkyo 5509... What about it, any other solution or stay on Onkyo ? Thanks.
