Preamp with Subwoofers

Do you need to run a sub amp for just the subwoofers or is better to run from the receiver. Which subamp would you choose.

I'm not sure what you mean by preamp.

If you have a receiver or preamp with a sub output simply connect that to the sub woofers input and that part will be set. You will also want to set the speaker size and crossover in the receiver as well.

This would depend on the sub. Most subs you will buy from SVS, Outlaw, eD, etc. have the amp built in and you just run from your receiver to it.

If you have a DIY sub that is just a box with the driver and a pair of speaker terminals then you will need a sub amp. Ther are many choices but a very popular one would be a Behringer A2500.
