If you like the sound of the polks, go for it. Most of the other speaker options in that price range are good bookshelf speakers or cheaper floorstanders.

I would be all over that. I paid $1600 for RTI 12's but the 8's sounded excellent and if price was a factor, i may have gone for the 8's as i cross over my 12's at 80hz anyways..

Absolutely go for it. that said, i saw RTI 12's advertised for $899 a pair. i think it was a misprint, but warrants further investigation. RTI 12's at $899 is the steal of the century and I would have to see someone's receipt to believe it.

Sounds like a great price. Go for it. Heck, I sold my RTi8s for about that price, used.
