Placing a speaker in a cabinet

I need to place my front speakers of a home theater system in a new custom built in wall cabinet. The cabinet is 2 feet deep and my speakers are 10 inches deep. There will be about 3 inches of space surrounding the speakers on the sides and top. The speaker will still stand on the floor.

I know it is not ideal to place a speaker in an enclosure like this.. I am looking for ways to minimize the impact to sound quality

Will keeping the front of the speaker flush with the front of the cabinet eliminate any issues with sound quality in this set up??

Thanks

Rear porting may present an issue. Are the speakers going to be "ear " level?

Plug the rear ports and stick a sock or foam in the center channel port.
keep the speakers at the edge of the cabinet.
