Hello,

hopefully I am writing this at right section of forum. I just got my turntable (yay) and I connected it with Pioneer SX 339. It has "PHONO" input, so I connected there but the sound I get is very quite. I was wondering if it's pre-amp but since it has PHONO, then of how I understand I shouldn't add preamp, but I am quite new at this. Here is the picture of how I connected it

We don't have enough information. We don't know anything about your turntable or cartridge. If, for example, it is a MC (moving coil) cartridge, instead of the more common MM (moving magnet) cartridge, then that would explain it, because MC cartridges typically have very low outputs. With a MM cartridge, it could either be a problem with the cartridge, the turntable (unlikely), the wires connecting your turntable to the receiver (unlikely), or the receiver.

Turntable is Sony PS-LX5, cartridge is Moving Magnet XL-150.
