Partial Room Treating?

Hello,

I just created a budget for new speakers and found out I have a little over $100 left over in my budget.

I have always planned on room treatments in the future, but with that left over budget, could I do a partial treatment?

For example, could I just purchase two panels (ATS 24" x 48" x 2": http://www.amazon.com/ATS-Acoustic-24x48x2-Inches-Microsuede/dp/B0032C1LOW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1425574419&sr=8-2&keywords=ats+panel) in the meantime and place them behind my speakers (back wall) or to the left and right of my speakers (side walls) and add more later?

I suppose my question is would just having the two panels (more to be added later) add improvement, or should I wait and do a complete first reflection treatment when I have the full budget for it?

Placed at the left and right wall reflection points, there would be some benefit (assuming reducing early reflections is your goal).

But dont expect too much out of two small panels.
