I need to wire my 5.1 system. I'm thinking of picking up some Nordost Cable. The wire sells for about $3.4/foot.

I like the idea that I can run it under my carpet, they provide measurements, 12 AWG, and they cable is Teflon insulated.

Any reason to think this cable would not perform or measure well?

Parts Express has a sale on 12ga, 37.50 for 100'.

That's about 1/10th the price of the Nordost.

Do the Nordost sound good? Sure. Does the Parts Express wire sound good? You betcha.

Can you tell a difference in the sound? I doubt it.

As far as running speaker cable under carpet, stay away from any areas that might see foot traffic or furniture as the weight could cause a breakdown in the cable. I prefer to avoid running cable under carpet except if absolutely required.

Az B said it all. Nordost is just the expensive sugar on the store shelf.
If you have a Home Depot near by, you may want to check out their speaker cable, or their low voltage 12 ga cable.
