NHT U2's with Denon 3806 Need help!

I am having a problem with my Dual NHT U2's working with a Denon 3806.

I have the Pre-out SW connected to the RCA in on the crossover the out to the amp. But I am getting sub-par response. I can hear/feel them but they are very weak.

Does anyone have this working?

From what I am able to gather it seems that they do not play well together.
Something about base management not working thru this setup.

Any help is appreciated.

Have you run the auto setup? If you have, check the settings to make sure your speaker settings are correct - mains should not be set to large and the sub's distance and level should be looked at.

Settings are fine on the Denon.

Mains are small.

Bass is LFE only.

What is the sub channel level currently set to in the receiver?

Two choices to start with:

1) Replace the active X-over with Y-adapter and just use bass management of the receiver.

2) Work with the active X-over. It does give you additional gain control.
Set Low-pass to 140
Set Phase to 0
Gain controls will be adjustable as required, in conjunction with the sub level in the receiver. I would start with both at 12 0’clock position.

If you have not already done so, purchase a Radio Shack SPL meter. This will aid tremendously when these type adjustments need to be made.
