I just looked at the current price at Electronics-Expo.com and the Yamaha HTR 5840, 5850, 5860 are priced really low!

5840 $237 MSRP $300
5850 $267 MSRP $400
5860 $327 MSRP $500

This are new models from this year with XM support.

Any reason why they went down in price? Newer models getting released soon? I would expect these prices to on Memorial day or Indepence day.

Very tempting. I like the specs on the 5860.

Any opinions on the sound quality of the Yamaha 5860?

I have the Yamaha 5760 which I purchased recently. Seems that the biggest difference with the 58xx series is the addition of the XM sat. option. Compared to the old Technics I was using it's quite a step up in features and in sound. I'm loving it so far.

yamaha doesn't list this e-tailer on their website as authorized. Great price, if you're comfortable buying from an un-auth seller, and it's what you want I would say go for it.

They have a local B&M store in NJ area...a few of them actually and they are pretty reputable. However, they don't have the same price as online but they will price match. It doesn't make sense though because when they price-match they add the shipping cost to the sale price.
