New set up questions

I have a question about wiring for best sound quality.

This is what I have coming:

Samsung UN65JS8500FXZA
65" SUHD Smart TV, 4K, 3D, 240 refresh

Denon Reciever
AVRX1200W

Golden Ear XL sound bar
Golden Ear HTR7000 ceiling speakers for rear cahnnels
Golden Ear Forcefield 3 Sub

This will be a 5.1 system.

The "tech" suggests I just plug an optical cable from the "one connect box" to the AVR and I am done.
The box does have an ARC HDMI output as well.
Which one is better, or , no difference?

Any comments or suggestions are welcome, as this is new territory for me.

Regards, Jeff

You will hear no audible difference between the two.

Broadly speaking, yes, but the use of Optical interfaces has one advantage over copper wire (like an HDMI connector cable), it eliminates the possibility of 60Hz hum (or 50 Hz, in Europe etc) entering the system. It's annoying in audio systems but can cause issues in video as well.

Have you ever seen a case where HDMI (or digital coax for that matter) actually caused a 60-cycle hum issue where there was none before? Typically it’s only passing along a problem that is already there.
