Hey, I'm new to the whole home theatre set up and I could really use some help :).
I just bought a S606-HCS3 for 500 bucks I thought it was a really good deal, but I'm a little confused on what receiver would be good to power these and what sub would go well with them.
I would say the room is small to medium size where everything will be. I have looked at some receivers I would I like to have 4k pass through as I'm planning on getting a 4k TV any help is appreciated thanks!

My price budget is around $300-400 for each.

I would recommend buying a better receiver and waiting on the sub because handling 4K and all of what it will need in the near future will make a $400 AVR obsolete pretty quickly. These have a woofer, so the bass will be far better than a system that only has small speakers.

If you rent, you may find that these are all you need.

These 5.0 used to sell New for $400 Shipped.
As for receiver with UHD support -
If you want better future proof (aka more features and better 4k/UHD support) - this one:
http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/denavrs900w/denon-avr-s900w-7.2-4k-ultra-hd-receiver-bluetooth/wi-fi/1.html#!specifications
but if you want overall better avr, but with less 4k features - i'd grab this one:
http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/denavrx3000/denon-avr-x3000-7.2-4k-networking-receiver-airplay/1.html

Those are nice receivers, do you know if those deals apply for Canada too?. Do I need the 7.2 even if I'm only going 5.1?, aslo the sub seems a little overkill since the living room is small to medium size, what do you think? I was thinking to go 8-10 inch sub. Thanks for the reply :D

Sneaky marketing on the first one, but, neither has HDCP2.2.

My current gen $500 receiver with HDCP 2.2 recommendation is, Yamaha RX-V579, http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00VIRGM88/
It's very possible, I haven't looked deep into details, but the bottom line is I'd take X3000 over RX-V579
4K is neat in very small number of scenarios. For now with my own 1080p TV - I play mostly 720p content and don't see any difference from proper 1080p BD material (documentary)

True. I too have not bought into Ultra HD or object oriented sound formats. But...

I would I like to have 4k pass through as I'm planning on getting a 4k TV
:p
