Using a system miniature accelerometers, gyroscopes, and ultrasonic emitters coupled with microphones, researchers at MIT, Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratory (MERL), and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, (ETH Zurich) have developed a motion capture system prototype for about $3000 in parts. The light weight, low power suit uses ultra sonic and inertial sensor data to reconstruct motion and position of not just parts of the body but from the entire body.

Kind of funny, because I always thought that even though the Wii is neat to play with, I always thought the control scheme was a gimmic of sorts.

... but the Wii is only $250, if you can find it. :)

Would they make a 1 size fits all suit? Would they have an XXXL suit for the larger peeps out there as an add on? What if you let your 5 year old try it and he takes a leak in your suit because he can't get out of it on the way to the bathroom... hmmm.

Maybe its just a buncha sensors on a wiring harness that you stick on?
