Matching speakers to cabinets.

I have some old empty JBL L26 Decade cabinets that are in great condition. I'd like to get some woofers and tweeters for them. I'm familiar with guitar speakers and amps, but I understand that speaker selection is much more involved in the stereo world. That is, the speakers and cabs need to match up. I've tried looking into this myself but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I wondered if anybody might have any suggestions? I'm handy with electronics so I could build crossovers if need be, though I wouldn't be opposed to buying prefab ones...

The main thing that needs to match with the cabinet is the woofer. Beyond that, the crossover is critical. The slopes is has might not be optimal or even conducive to the new speakers you’re selecting.

Honestly, it would be best to find original drivers (ebay). Barring that, it’s easier to just buy something else than spend money on something not even knowing what kind of outcome you’ll have.
