March NPDs: Kratos Slaughters Competition, PS3 FFXIII Doubles 360
Plus, Pokemon top the month with almost 2 million total units sold.

We presumed that God of War 3 or Final Fantasy 13 would rule the roost this month, and it was just a matter of which one. As it turns out, Kratos did what he does best and beat down all in his path with over a million units sold. This is an increase over God of War 2 by 32%. Final Fantasy 13 didn't rest on its laurels, though; between systems, it sold a combined total of just over 1.3 million units. And it seems the franchise name still has some stock with Sony, since the PS3 version sold almost double that of the 360. But the latest from Square Enix actually isn't the highest-selling RPG in March. That honor goes to Nintendo, since the Pokemon pair of Heart Gold/Soul Silver combined for almost 1.8 million units. Nintendo has truly caught them all, and by "them" we mean children.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 pulled off a respectable debut as well, hitting almost 1.3 million units total. This beats out the original Bad Company by 170%. This month's Modern Warfare 2 numbers, though they didn't chart in the top 10, place it as the second-best-seller of all time -- right after Wii Play.
