Hey

If I'm not planning on blowing the roofs of my apartment or using aura 3D, any reason to go for the sr7011 instead 6011? The only difference I care about is the sound. Will also use a seperate amp to drive my fronts so the difference in power only goes up for the other speakers: 6 ohm, 1 kHz, 1%, 1-chan.: 7011 is 200 W vs 185 W of 6011.

Thoughts?

I would go with the SR7011, but actually the Denon AVR-x4300H is a better deal. The sound quality will most likely be the same without processing, unless you buy into the so called Marantz HDAM thing that is more marketing hype than audible sound quality. I have owned and installed both brand's upper end models including 2 Marantz prepro, so I am talking from experience.

And Marantz 6011 vs Denon x4300H? Was indeed considering the Denon too!

Prices would be:

820 marantz 6011
1100 Denon x4300H

Understood, but keep in mind the Denon is more comparable to the SR7011, just a little lighter, but same power consumption spec that indicate the power supply maybe the same or equivalent, and no analog MCH input that most people would never use. Both have the same DAC, and if you look at pictures of the innards, D&M AVRs tend to look very similar to the point I believe the only main difference is the proprietary HDAM vs Denon's AL24/AL32. The 6011 is nice, and I do believe their lower end DAC won't make any audible difference, but knowing about it may have placebo effects on you.:D

I didnt have any doubts about buying the marantz 7011, but as I was waiting for some money to come in to order them the prices suddenly went up everywhere from like 1050 tot 1500.. Denon too. And is there a difference in the DACS? damn :( they dont say that on their site

That DAC is only in the 70XX and Denon X4200W, X4300H, X6200W, X6300H. The models below those have the TI(Burr Brown) DAC that has slightly lower specs but most likely won't affect sound quality.

Hello,
I have a oppo uhd player 203 which has the same DAC as 7011, AK4458VN. The oppo has 7.1 analog out. If I connect the 7.1 out to the 6011 multi channel 7.1 IN, should I be getting better quality than the 6011 DAC. Will the 6011 pass through the analog-in to the pre outs in a PURE mode where additional processing is not required from 6011.

I have 7.1.4 setup and Iam driving 5 channels (F/C/S) through an outlaw 5000.

So at lease for music. I could use the multi channel input to get better sound. That was my thinking.
Thanks in advance

Yes you can do that but as you know in that case you won't be able to benefit from Audyssey and will have to do your bass management manually and/or use whatever the Oppo offers. A lot of people will tell you the better DAC in the Oppo won't make any audible difference compare to using HDMI with the SR 6011. There is absolutely no harm trying and it should be fun too.
