Well, I finally chose the pioneer receiver recommended in the audioholics $1000 budget system and bought it off ebay for $230. Here's the link...

Now I need to make up my mind on speakers. My room I'm putting them in is about 12x12. I'll probably start off with 5.1 setup and add later. I was looking at Athena micros, but I don't think they will do it for me. I need a fuller sound that I probably can't get from satellites. I'm looking at the phase tech teatro line, but i'm really lost right now. I have a budget around $500 for speakers and a sub. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the help and advice provided in my previous threads. Oh, and Merry Christmas:)

that price range My neighbor just went with a set of Fluance sx htb..... www.fluance.com
Nice sound....for the price I Think he got a hell of a deal.
you would have to add a sub though.
he's using a pioneer 915, the auto set up was pretty sweet,
his room is 16 x 18 and it fills it decently.

that system looks about right for 12x12.

Alternates are BIC ofcoarse. Never heard them, but people hear swear by them.

Boxing day is here, you should looks at whats available aroudn ypu and listen.

Personally, I would get a speaker package like the Velodyne Deco system. A Micra would also be nice.

But, go listen first before buying sight unseen
