How do you hire an event management company?

Hi, I will try to explain this as short as possible. I need to hire an event management company for supporting us for an on-stage event. I am from Canada and is not very much familiar with Montreal city laws.
What are the things that we need to ask before going with a deal with this kind of event organizers? This is a small event and we are having only targeted audience(250 people) who are already familiar with us.

Why not just call an event management company up and ask what they can do for you?

Not sure what kind of replies you expected from a forum for home theater enthusiasts. I would expect that a reputable event management company would be the one asking you questions to determine your needs and expectations. Never a bad idea to get references.
