hey everyone, I just bought my first subwoofer and I quickly realized I don't know how to properly connect it to my speakers. I have the Studiophile AV 40 speakers and the Sony SA-W2500 subwoofer. THIS is an image of the back of my speakers. There's also an aux in and headphone port on the front. THIS is an image of the back of my subwoofer.

I've been able to connect my left speaker using the dual positive/negative cable (i dont know the proper name for it) to the left input of my subwoofer (i.e. i redirected my right speaker input into my subwoofer). The problem with this is that my right speaker isn't getting any input, and my subwoofer is only getting audio from the right side. thanks for any help :) If you do know the cables/adapters/whate ever i may need, can you please include their specific name.

If your receiver has a "LFE" or "Sub Out" RCA jack, then feed that to the subs "Line" input. Configure receiver accordingly.

If it doesn't, connect the receivers front R/L speakers outputs to the speaker terminals labelled "In" on the sub, and the speaker outs on the sub to your front R/L speakers. Set subwoofer to no or off on your receiver.

You may need to reference your receiver manual.

[edit] I just looked at your speakers. You can't implement that sub into your system. Your sub only has a LFE type input (one jack). You need a receiver with a preamp out and a sub with both a right and left line level input, at the minimum.

As mark said. You feed the subwoofer out or lfe out to your subwoofer's input jack. You don't hook your speakers up to it unless you got no other choice.

hmm, im thinking about returning it (i have 30 days) and getting the Polk Audio PSW10. THIS is an image of its connections. It looks like i can just get a headphone splitter and a Y cable splitter for that one...

The Polk should work. "Y" connectors should do it.

Just send the r/l preamp output to the r/l inputs of both the Polk sub and the speakers.
