Home theater set up questions

I am new to this forum and have questions about my home theater project I started a few months ago. My family room is 15 x 18 with 8 ft ceiling. My current receiver is the Yamaha RX-V477 and I'm using the Klipsch Quintet (latest version) wall mounted (due to my room's crowded shape it limited me to wall mounted satellite speakers). I am currently trying out the SVS SB-1000 subwoofer (120 hz crossover) and even though it sounds good, movies and music seem a little recessed (some movies I had to bring close to or at reference level to create an impact). Would a more powerful subwoofer help with this (like the SVS SB-2000?) or would a more powerful sub overwhelm the Klipsch satellites? Maybe a ported sub is a better alternative (like the PB-1000)? Also, my last thought is perhaps my receiver could be under-powered (its power rating is modest at 20Hz-20kHz, 2ch driven 80 W 8 ohms)? If anyone could provide some input, I would appreciate it (I'm still fairly new to the home theater scene).
