my family have allergies so im building our HT as safe as possible,

i visited one of my friend's uncle new house to see their home theater. his HT made my eyes itchy. my friend also felt it. what could be the problem?

Lack of vacuuming!

No air return for A/C.

Hidden mold/mildew issues from poor construction.

Loose fiberglass still floating in the air.

Did this guy make a DIY air register and put fiberglass insulation in the duct to cancel any sound transfer?

If it is fiberglass, I hope he doesn't kill his own family....

Might make a mention of it to your family! I've heard stories of people making their own sound trap in the ducts to keep sound transmission to other rooms to a minimum.

Ill-conceived designs make for very sick home theater patrons!
