Hello looking for some build ideas for a 2 channel or 2.1 setup in a home office. My room size is 10 by 11 with one wall at a angle.

I listen to all kinds of music but heavy metal and rock would be at the top of the list.

I have a nice marantz cd player that I will incorporate into the system. So I just need some input on speakers, receiver and maybe a sub. I would like the ability to hook my computer up to the receiver if that is possible.

Been looking into Hsu and Svs systems but I would like some ideas of better bookshelf speakers that would fall into my price range.

Thank you

Hsu Ultra 2.1 package would be a good setup. Just add a modern Yamaha, Pioneer, Denon, or Marantz receiver. It can get loud but it is not fatiguing with the high like Klipsch can be. Great for cranking rock and metal, and the sub has a tremendous amount of headroom at 40 Hz and above.

If the size doesn't bother you :)

For something much smaller, I'd look at decent pre-amp/dac , maybe like this one:https://emotiva.com/products/dacs/electronics/dacs/stealth-dc-1
and pair of pro-monitors like these: https://emotiva.com/products/powered-monitors/speakers/airmotiv-6s

Wow thats quite a savings on the receiver, thanks for that.
full disclosure: it could looks like brand new, but since it's sold as refub - it only has 1 year warranty, but it's official manufacturer warranty.

Would you consider the Ascend Sierra to be a much better speaker than the HSU bookshelf speakers? I realize it costs alot more but is there a large difference?
I have the Ascend Acoustics CBM-170 SE and the Sierra 1s. The 170s would generally be considered the comparable to the HSU, and I find the Sierra 1s a good upgrade over the 170s. But I can't say whether or not you would find them a "large difference” as that is such a personally subjective evaluation.

Oh, but I would say put much more of your money towards the speakers that the receiver. Spending more on better speakers is where you get the best bang for the buck, not spending a lot on a receiver.
