i am trying to learn more about high res music. A buddy told me to download hd music to a pc from hdtracks. Then play it through a DAC via analogue to my reciever. Couple questions, do I need a DAC as I have a Yamaha rxv667 (FLAC, WAV 192 kHz / 24-bit, Apple® Lossless 96 kHz / 24-bit playback and gapless playback compatibility).

Second question, I have an Amazon Fire TV running Kodi. Is it possible to steam hi res music from my fire tv via Kodi to my receiver. If so how?

What do you use now for music? Your avr's dac should be fine in any case. Don't expect cd's to all of a sudden sound bad. As usual it still the source/mixing/mastering that counts most. CD quality is excellent. Do you have any music on blu-ray?

Have no idea about Fire/Kodi.
