I am selliny my Cary Audio V12R amplifier. I purchased this amp around September 10, 2007 from it’s original owner. I recently purchased a Yamamoto A-08S as it was my plan to have a reference SET amplifier and a reference push-pull amplifier. However, I have decided that the 2 watt Yamamoto is powerful enough on my Von Schweikert dB99 SE speakers, so I have no need for a reference push-pull amplifier as I thought.

The V12R is sweet and detailed, but it just can’t a hold a candle to those 2 magical 45 triode watts. If you like the Cary “house sound”, you will love this amplifier. The original V12 earned a Stereophile Class A recommendation. The V12R improves upon and surpasses the original V12 in every single aspect from what I understand. I have the original double box, manual, bias tool, bias analog meter, and tube compliment (twelve Shuguang EL34-B, a pair of Ruby EL84, and a pair of 12BZ7 from unknown origin). I will also include twelve matched SED Wing C EL34, two pair of EI EL84, one pair of 1960s NOS GE Black Plate 12BZ7, and one pair of 1950s NOS Zenith 12BZ7. The original owner claimed that he had recently purchased the SED EL34 from The Tube Store. He claimed less than 200 hours of use on them. I would estimate that I’ve put less than 200 more hours on them, but I’ll err on the side of caution and say they have 500 hours on them. The EI EL84 were purchased new from an eBay auction 5 weeks ago. One pair has been used since then, and the other pair was put away. The 12BZ7 were bought from Tube World less than 8 weeks ago. I’ve been using the Zenith pair since then, and the GE pair was put away. All totaled, you will receive 24 EL34 tubes, 3 pair of EL84, and 3 pair of 12BZ7.

Cosmetically, the V12R is in great condition. The Jaguar Carnival Red finish is amazing. There are no scratches anywhere on the amplifier. The front faceplate has some extremely mild rubbing on the “V” in Vacuum at the lower left hand corner. The Cary emblem on the middle Output Transformer has some discoloration on it. Due to these VERY MINOR imperfections, I’m rating it an 8 out of 10.

I accept payment via money order or Paypal (add 3%). Buyer pays for shipping. E-mail me with any questions you may have or for higher resolution images.

Robert Pearson, looks like that's a 10 year old ad and old price from 2007. Would be interesting to see if they still have it. I could not decide between the upgraded V12-R tube amp and the new SA-200.2 solid state (tubey sounding) amp. Ended up with one of each and still comparing back past few months and forth after putting all new tubes in the V12-R. Took a while to find a really nice one. Good luck on the V12-R search, its a powerful and nice sounding amplifier.
