The 7.8 has a few additional features, most notably networking interface. After that the differences are very minute. Integra claims to only use parts tested beyond average in their receivers, what doesn't pass but is still within proper realms of operation is used in the Onkyo line. I find it hard to believe their would be a significant difference.
