Clueless Wants to add speakers

I have a Yamaha 5.1 receiver, 70w/channel. Klipsch 5.1 surround speakers. Just obtained 2 bose cl-2 professional and 2 MTX Aa 830’s. They sound great together and they’re in great shape. I want to Incorporate them in my system. I was thinking to switch my output to 6 Ohm And have them as left and right, running my 4 klipsch’s as surround.
Will this work? I just don’t want to ruin anything.

Doubtful it will work – the Yamaha’s built-in protection circuitry will probably shut it down. Your best bet is to run one of the speaker pairs from a separate amplifier. This will be easy to do if your Yamaha has RCA preamp outputs for the front left and right channels.
