How much should the rear port on a bookshelf speaker be ahead, minimum, of a solid surface?

It's got a 5.5" woofer. How far for a 6.5 speaker?

Just to be clear "rear ported" refers to speakers with ports in the rear of the speaker,
not to speakers in the rear of the room.

Yes, and to be clear generally anywhere from the equivalent distance of the port diameter (or a diameter and a half) to a few inches clearance is sufficient; ideally even more than that for better sound.
