Catch All Home theater system

Hey guys, I need a 5 speaker plus sub home theater in a box that can play DVD's and fill a decnetly large room. Doesn't need to be real serious, just a room about 20x20 with a high ceiling. I am looking to spend about $300 maybe a little more. Give me some options. I will post more info when I get back from work.

Nothing at ~$300 is going to fill that room well. Might look at the Onkyo 680 and add a cheap DVD player.

Logitech Z5500. As good as it will get for the $. I heard the Z680's in a 15 by 30 room and it FILLED it with bass.

j garcia, understand by fill I mean just enough to be ok. The system my step dad had was like an $80 from walmart. How can he pay $2700 for a 42 inch plasma flat screen and **** out on the surround sound? Its for him, not me. Just needs to play CDs/ DVDs and have 5.1 with a sub. THAT IS IT. Lose specs, I know, I will browse through and show some of the things I have been looking at.

this package will total over $ 300, but not by a ton, and will be better quality than you might expect.

Harvey Electronics has Loewe CONCERTOS "Lifestyle" system for $499, it is basicly a Bose Acustimass set up, but for $499 i would say it is a good deal...hopfully this doesn't start a Bose bash off...

it is going to be really tough to do any thing for $200-$300. here are a few more options:

Thats exactly what I don't understand. We have a plasma TV, no digital cable, and a craptastic DVD Player. He'd been better off taking 800 and buying a big wega or something and wiping his butt with the other 2G's, atleast it would have been put to good use. That DVD Player is Nice. I think I will jsut get him that and let him get his own speaker set up. Then when he buys another crappy speaker setup, maybe I will have enough money to buy a decent system. The system is for MY lake house, the TV is his. But They use the system alot more than me, being up at college.
