for a good size living room.
I have a pioneer THX receiver (paid around 680). I have MTX speakers.
I want to be able to tell the surround sounds from rear.
I have been playing with gains, but don't have a clue what they should be.

Front Left=+2.5db
Center=+6db
Front Right=+2.5db
Rear Left=+4db
Rear Right=+4db
Bass=+10db

i appreciate some db gain info and adjustments.

You can't just guess at the levels or use someone else's settings. You can get close by calibrating by ear until each speaker sounds about the same, but the only way to do it right is to use a SPL meter.

Rat Shack has a fairly decent SPL meter at a reasonable price. An SPL meter is the only way to accurately adjust levels. I have an older model purchased 20+ years ago. I have had it re-callibrated evrey year or so. Although it is not needed that frequently, when it is needed there is no substitute. :cool:
