Last Friday saw the launch of Call of Duty Black Ops III, the latest in one of the best-selling video game franchises in history. So far, the buzz online seems to indicate that Black Ops III is a hit. But will it be enough? This year will be pivotal For Black Ops III sales as publisher Activision and developer Treyarch have invested significantly in reversing the downward sales trend.

So, while we're testing new campaign and multiplayer modes, we'll also be keeping on eye on the game within the game.

Whatever Activision did to sell their game, it looks like it did the trick, making $550 million in one weekend. Personally I am not a fan of the COD games, although I do like some other first person shooters.

I'm enjoying the multiplayer. I kinda skipped the campaign. I don't get it... too much time travel, reality bending etc, etc, I got confused and tired of it.

Multiplayer compared to AW is smooth and more polished. Having played MP up to about level 7, I am still a noob but it's better than last year's AW which was kind of silly with all the boost-jumping and shooting from stories in the air. This one limits some of that stuff, you can only boost jump two stories.

It's good. I love the Zombies too.

If you're on PS4, friends me...
Squidwayde. I'll probably be playing more zombies than anything. Zombies has Ron Pearlman, pretty cool!

I have the game on PC. It was a bit of a rough start with performance problems. In fact, it wouldn't even run on my Core i5 PC without making a change in the config.inf file. Seriously? The i5 is probably one of the most common CPU's out there and your game had a showstopping bug on day one?

They have since fixed that and I am running smoothly at about 144 FPS with my 144hz G-Sync monitor which is making for an awesome playing experience.

As for the game play, I haven't touched the campaign besides a few minutes in Co-Op with a friend. Multiplayer is where it's at for me. I am disappointed that ZERO players are playing some of the new modes like Safeguard. That is a fun mode from what I've been able to play but the playlist is always empty. As for the modes that people are playing, it's COD. I've played COD from the very first release and still enjoy it. I think the best COD games were MW1 and MW2. I have more hours in MW2 than any other COD game and I still play it. That game just had the best maps, challenges, and scorestreaks of any COD game IMO. Black Ops 3 feels similar to Black Ops 2 with the added ability to boost jump and slide. I like the boost jumping. It adds to the challenge and makes the other players less predictable.

I've been having fun with the specialists. I've been using the gravity spikes. That is a very satisfying way to get a multi-kill. :D I took some random clips and threw them in iMovie and it spit out a movie trailer. Haha

Sweet video, man. That's awesome. You definitely got skillz in and out of the "Blops" arena. I liked that.

Sniper with spikes, an interesting combo I'll have to check that out.

I got Fallout4 too but am trying to develop some proficiency at BO3 before I get too deep into FO4. Prepping for Christmas noob season. ;) I need every advantage I can get, being a proper noob myself.

Haha well iMovie really made that. I took some random clips captured with the nVidia ShadowPlay feature and clicked a button in iMovie and it spit that out. Not much actual skill involved in the video part. ;)

In fact, I did the same with some footage of my cats a while back. Happens to be the same style of trailer.

I noticed a few continuity errors.

144FPS with a Core I5 are you running 980TI with SLI? I am about 120 FPS Max with my single GPU setup. at 1440P?

I find I prefer to play single player games during the holidays, and get back into multiplayer once school is back in. The again I play team based multiplayer games, and all the kids play them with little regard for their team mates. Kids just don't give a damn about other people these days.

The CPU really has little impact on FPS performance. An i7 is a waste of money for most gamers as it really doesn't provide any real advantage. I'm running an i5 4690k with 16GB RAM, 250GB SSD, and GTX970Ti. As you can see in my video above where I forgot to disable the FPS counter, I don't get a solid 144FPS but it consistently stays above 100 and averages between 120 and 140 FPS. Either way, it's liquid smooth. I didn't realize how much of a difference a really good gaming monitor using a technology like G-Sync can make until I got this setup.

True, but G-Sync monitor does NOT improve FPS it is the refresh rate of your monitor. If you are getting the FPS settings you claim, you are not running at max settings. At least according to game benchmarks
