bipole surround speaker placment

I am currently running a 5.1 set up I will be changing to a 7.1 very soon. I wanted to know if I got a set of bi pole 2 way surrounds where should I place them. should they be rear surrounds or and just left right surrounds?

They'd go on the sides.

I would suggest the best way is whichever sounds best to you, in your space. There are few hard and fast rules with this, and room acoustics means everything.
