Audio Quality

Hi

I have a SD Crt TV and have been using a Topfield 5000 SD PVR.
Just wondering whether using an HD Stb will give me better quality audio through my Denon receiver.
Also, if I use an HD stb, I will get 7Mate and Gem channels with a SD picture regardless of whether it is transmitted in HD or SD. Is this right?

Hey there, Moonlight.

Looks like that box has an optical output for Dolby Digital, but the sound modes available are only stereo or mono. A couple of questions:
1. Can you get 5.1 surround sound from that box?
2. Are over-the-air broadcasts there in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround?

If that box doesn't do DD 5.1 surround, and an HD box will, then you will get better audio with an HD box. Dolby Digital 5.1 is a nice step up from stereo.
