Are the Sennheiser HD500 any good?

I was just shopping around a local store and noticed they had a set for about 170. I wanted to know if they were worth the buy, or should I go rich and buy some 580's for 400? (CDN btw)

I have not heard the HD500s, but I own the HD580s and love them. Just one note of coution, the 580s are not very efficent and will sound very weak driven by a portable device, muddy even, they need to be pluged into a receiver or headphone amp to sound good.

I know they sound crappy when plugged in portably, thats why I am only using them on my PC. As for an amp I could use my Z-560 breakout box for now until I get money for a real amp.
