ARC not working with new receiver and tv

denon x3300 and tcl roku 4k tv

i connected denon and tv both arc hdmi input 1 monitor

hdmi control set to on, arc is set to on but greyed out

cant get any sound when i use smart tv features, youtube

i also used optical cable, that works

ARC is a cluster you know what. Try turning off CEC on both devices.

However as I always say Smart TVs are anything but smart, in fact very dumb indeed.

By far the best plan is to have all program going to the receiver and one HDMI cable going from receiver to TV. Life is bliss if you only ever use the on off button on a TV after set up, and ignore everything else.

i got it to work by turning on hdmi control, arc and cec on the tv.
but im not sure how i feel yet about it defaulting to tv audio when i power everything on.
